We are a family-run toy store, online since 2013, and Warrior Cats has become one of the lines we are asked about most. The plush are officially licensed, made by Bonkers Toys from Erin Hunter's Warriors series, and they come as sealed blind boxes. That surprise is what fans enjoy, but it also means a little planning helps a gift land well. If you would rather browse than read, browse our Holiday Toy Shop and look for the Warrior Cats sets.
The short answer: start with a Series 2 mini plush 3-pack
For most Clan fans, the best Christmas present is the Warrior Cats Mini Mystery Plush Series 2 3-Pack. It holds three sealed 6 inch blind boxes, so there are three reveals to open on Christmas morning rather than one. The Series 2 roster has eight minis to collect: Squirrelflight, Tigerstar, Cloudtail, Jayfeather, Ravenpaw, Rusty, Sandstorm and Tawnypelt.
One thing to know before you buy: every box is sealed and the cats inside are randomly selected. Duplicates are possible, and we cannot promise a 3-pack will contain three different characters. Many collectors treat doubles as trade stock with friends who collect the same wave, and that is how most shelves get finished. If the child is a first-time collector, that is usually a feature rather than a problem, but it is worth knowing so the gift is not a surprise in the wrong way.
Why a set beats a single box for a gift
A single blind box is a one-minute moment. A child who has read the books and has a favourite cat in mind will often be hoping for a particular character, and one box gives them one chance. A multi-pack gives them three chances and a larger present to unwrap, and it keeps the gift giver from having to guess which single box to choose. For a present that has to look and feel like a proper gift, we steer shoppers to the sets first and treat single boxes as extras.
There is a practical side too. Sets travel in one box, are easy to wrap, and are simple to explain to a relative who is buying on someone else's behalf. If a grandparent asks what to get a Warriors fan, "the Series 2 mini plush 3-pack" is a clear answer they can order in a minute, and the child ends up with something they will actually want to open.
Our Warrior Cats gift picks
The mini plush 3-pack (best overall)
The Series 2 mini mystery plush 3-pack is the set we would buy first. Three 6 inch plush, officially licensed, ages 3 and up. It suits a reader building a shelf, a younger sibling who just wants a soft cat, and a gift exchange where the present needs to feel substantial. We have it in small quantities at the time of writing, so if it is the main present, we would not leave it to the last week.
The Clan Gift Set (limited quantities, not being restocked)
The Warrior Cats Clan Gift Set combines one 11 inch large mystery plush with two 6 inch mini mystery plush, all from Series 2, so it is three reveals in one box and the closest thing we have to a ready-made present. We should be plain about the supply: it is in limited quantities and is not being restocked, so when our current stock is gone, it is gone. If it is still listed when you read this, it is a good choice. If it is not, the 3-pack above is the set to pick.
The 11 inch large plush 2-pack (limited quantities, not being restocked)
For a child who wants the biggest cat on the shelf, the 11 inch Large Mystery Plush 2-Pack has two sealed Series 2 large plush. The large format has four characters in this wave: Ravenpaw, Tigerstar, Squirrelflight and Jayfeather. Like the Clan Gift Set, the 11 inch plush are in limited quantities and are not being restocked. We mention them because they are a nice display piece while they last, but we would not build a gift plan around them.
Add-ons that finish the present
Once you have picked a set, a single Series 2 mini mystery plush works as an add-on, for example for a second child or a stocking. It is a random 6 inch cat, so it should go alongside a set rather than be the main gift. For a household with another fan of a different line, the KPop Demon Hunters 8 Inch Plush 4-Character Set holds Rumi, Mira, Zoey and Demon Jinu, all four guaranteed, because those 8 inch plush are not blind.
Pick by recipient
| If the child is... | Start with | Are the cats guaranteed? |
|---|---|---|
| A Warriors reader building a shelf | Series 2 mini plush 3-pack | No, random; duplicates possible |
| A big fan who wants the biggest cat | 11 inch Large Plush 2-Pack (while stock lasts) | No, random |
| A fan who should open three things | Clan Gift Set (while stock lasts) | No, random |
| A younger sibling in the same house | One mini plush as an add-on | No, random |
| A fan of a different line | KPop Demon Hunters 8 inch plush 4-character set | Yes, all four |
How the Series 2 blind boxes work
Each box is sealed, and there is no way to tell from the outside which cat is inside. You cannot choose, and we cannot choose for you. Because of that, we do not promise that a multi-pack will be free of repeats. If the child is chasing one specific character, a set raises the odds of getting it but does not guarantee it, and it is better to tell the recipient that part is up to chance than to promise otherwise.
If you want to know what each character is like before you buy, our Series 2 plush guide and collector checklist lists every cat in both sizes with a short who's-who for parents who have not read the books.
Which ages these suit
Bonkers Toys labels the Warrior Cats plush for ages 3 and up. In practice, the books are written for readers around 8 and older, so most collectors are in the 8 to 12 range, while the soft minis also work as everyday plush for younger children. For a child under 8 who does not read the books, a mini plush is simply a soft cat, and a 3-pack gives them more to open. For readers aged 8 and up, the sets give them something to collect, display and trade.
